User Settings and Preferences

Discover how to personalize your Shifts experience by configuring user settings, display preferences, and other account options.

Accessing User Settings

  1. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of any page
  2. Select “Profile” from the dropdown menu
  3. Navigate to the “Settings” tab to access all user preferences

Available Setting Categories

Personal Information

  • Contact Information: Update your email, phone number, and address
  • Emergency Contacts: Add or edit emergency contact information
  • Personal Details: Update your name, date of birth, and other personal data
  • Profile Photo: Upload or change your profile picture

Account Preferences

  • Language: Change the language used throughout the platform
  • Time Zone: Set your local time zone for accurate scheduling
  • Date Format: Choose your preferred date display format (MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY)
  • Time Format: Select 12-hour or 24-hour time display
  • Start Page: Choose which page appears when you first log in

Display Settings

  • Theme: Choose between light mode, dark mode, or system default
  • Color Scheme: Personalize accent colors (if available)
  • Text Size: Adjust the size of text for better readability
  • Compact View: Toggle between standard and compact display modes
  • Calendar Display: Set default calendar view (daily, weekly, monthly)

Notification Settings

  • Email Notifications: Configure which updates are sent to your email
  • In-App Notifications: Set preferences for alerts within the platform
  • Mobile Notifications: Manage push notifications for the mobile app
  • SMS Alerts: Enable or disable text message notifications
  • Notification Schedule: Set quiet hours when notifications are suppressed

Privacy Settings

  • Profile Visibility: Control what information is visible to colleagues
  • Calendar Sharing: Set whether others can view your schedule
  • Activity Status: Choose whether to show when you’re online/active
  • Contact Information: Control which contact details are visible to others

Managing Linked Accounts

If your organization supports it, you can link external accounts for easier access:

  1. In the Settings tab, find the “Linked Accounts” section
  2. You may connect accounts such as:
    • Google Workspace
    • Microsoft 365
    • Slack
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) providers
  3. Follow the prompts to authorize the connection
  4. Manage or remove linked accounts at any time

Device Management

View and manage devices that have access to your account:

  1. Navigate to the “Security” section in Settings
  2. View all devices currently logged into your account
  3. See details such as device type, browser, and last access time
  4. Use the “Sign Out” option to remotely log out from specific devices
  5. Choose “Sign Out From All Devices” to force a complete re-login

Exporting Your Data

You may request a download of your personal data:

  1. Go to the “Privacy” section in Settings
  2. Click “Request Data Export”
  3. Select which data categories to include
  4. Submit your request
  5. You’ll receive an email when your data export is ready to download

  1. New user settings or preferences are added

  4. New data export options become available
